Customise the Display

The screen at display.jonot.io shows live queue status in your waiting area. You can choose how many queues it shows and change its on-screen labels. On the Pro plan, you can also change the colour that flashes when staff call a ticket.

Select one initial queue when you pair a display. After pairing, you can assign one to five queues from its location. Multiple queues appear in a side-by-side live board, with each column updating independently. To change the assignment:

  1. In admin, open the location’s Devices tab.
  2. Click Edit on the display row.
  3. Use the queue checkboxes to select one to five queues. The dialog previews the board layout as you change the selection.
  4. Click Save.

A display assigned to one queue uses the single-queue layout. At least one queue must remain assigned.

The Linked desk selector is separate from queue assignment. Select Location view (all desks) to show calls from the assigned queues without filtering by desk. In the single-queue layout, linking a desk shows only that desk’s calls from the assigned queue. If the linked desk stays offline for more than 2 minutes, the display falls back to location view for that queue until the desk reconnects. The multi-queue board shows its assigned queues without linked-desk filtering.

Paused queues show a paused badge in their column but remain visible on the board.

A single-queue display shows the current ticket in a large now-serving area. Below it, the Up next list shows the next few waiting numbers. Each number has a position label such as “Next”, “2nd”, or “3rd” so customers can see how close they are. If the display is linked to a desk, the large area also shows the desk name so the customer knows where to go. These features appear automatically and need no configuration.

On the Pro plan, the display shows your organisation’s logo above the “Now serving” heading in the single-desk and location views. The logo is not shown in the grid that appears when several desks call tickets at the same time. The Logo size branding control sets its size. If the logo URL does not load, the display leaves the logo out instead of showing a broken image. Set the logo in Settings → Branding; there is no separate display setting.

Every time a ticket is called or announced again, a high-contrast colour briefly covers the whole display while the chime plays. This flash makes the call visible across the room even when the sound is muted. It appears for the first call and when staff use Call again at the desk.

The flash is always active on all plans. See Notification Sounds for details on the chime, the display.recalled re-announce sound, and how to customise the flash colour on Pro.

Use the Display texts editor to change labels such as the “Now serving” heading, desk instructions, and queue status messages. Changes appear on the display without a page reload.

  1. In admin, go to Settings → Display texts.
  2. Edit the fields you want to change. Each field shows the built-in text as a placeholder. Leave a field empty to keep that text.
  3. Click Save display texts.

The changes are pushed to all paired displays for your organisation immediately via the live branding channel.

Queue display:

  • “Now serving” heading
  • Go-to-desk instruction (e.g. “Go to Desk 1” — keep {{desk}} in place)
  • “Desk” label
  • “No desks are currently calling.” message
  • “Recently called” heading
  • “Active desks” heading
  • Paused message
  • Closed message
  • Queue-not-found title and message

Queue status messages:

  • “Queue paused”, “Queue closed”, and “Queue unavailable” status labels
  • “Queue unavailable” body message

The {{desk}} text is a placeholder that the display replaces with the desk name. Keep {{desk}} in your custom text so the desk name still appears.

  • Waiting count and next-number chips — the “X waiting” and “Next” labels used in the waiting summary.
  • Relative-time tokens in the recently-called list (e.g. “just now”, “2m”) — these contain count placeholders that are fragile to edit.
  • Display controls — pairing instructions, fullscreen toggle, reconnecting indicator.
  • Kiosk and customer app strings — overrides apply to the queue display only.

Custom text is stored separately for each language. The display uses the language set for its location and device (see Languages) and shows the custom text for that language. Text entered for one language does not appear in another. Languages without custom text use their built-in text.
